Inspired by my love of Cactus Dahlias, I have invented these little creations...not seen anything quite like these in blogland or on YouTube...they were really easy to make, and the best bit is you don't need any special die or punch to make them.
Step 1. Cut some curved slivers of card in varying lengths...I ran my fingers along each petal a few times to make it curl.
Step 2: Punch a circle no bigger than the flower centre you are going to use, and put a small piece of strong double sided tape across the circle (I used Stix 2). Would probably work just as well with wet glue, but I am not a patient crafter...
Step 3: Once you have finished the first layer, put another piece of tape across the circle and build up the next layer layer with slightly shorter petals.
Until you end up with this!
My lovely Prima jewelled flower centres are from Quixotic Paperie.
I would like to have made something a bit different with my cactus flowers, but due to time constraints I have kept it really simple with this envelope and card...if I hadn't I would not have been able to post these on my blog today...but you get the idea anyway.
It's funny how this idea has been brewing inside my little brain for so long..probably for several months now, I just couldn't figure out how to get the look I wanted...little did I know when I got up yesterday that by the evening I would finally come up with the idea for these flowers! They are a great way to use up scraps of card, and they are really quick to make...once I had practiced a few times I was making them in less than 5 minutes. I would love to try making these using 2 or more colours, or perhaps glimmer misted...I'm certain that variations of these cactus flowers will feature again on my blog in the future!
Well, I hope you like them...I would love to know what you think...do let me know if you give them a go so that I can come see how you've used them!

Hi Sarita. I have been out of the country for the last month or so and once again discover that you have been beautifully creative in my absence. These cactus flowers are soooo clever and soooo in keeping with your fabulous style. They look a bit fiddly to me and perhaps a bit fragile for the post but they are divine to behold! Warmest wishes, Lesley.
